Our BBC Work

Working with you to create exceptional content

Whether it's a podcast that sparks a conversation, a piece of music that moves
the soul, or a voiceover that captivates the imagination, we understand the impact that sound can have on an audience.

Our mission is to harness that power and create audio experiences that resonate with listeners
on a profound level.

We work with some of the biggest broadcasters and podcast platforms in the world, and we take our mantra of bringing Bold, Brave & Brilliant to every project that we work on.

The People's Pool

The extraordinary story of a pool that’s seen it all, produced by The Big Light, for Archive on 4 on BBC Radio 4.

Presented by Denise Mina, this Archive on 4 reveals the story of the Govanhill Baths, from its birth as a leading lady of Glasgow’s Municipal Socialist infrastructure, to its central role hosting one of the longest continuous occupations of a civic building in British history, and everything unlikely, romantic and tragic in between.

The stories of the people to whom she belonged come alive with delightful and entertaining vignettes painted using archive oral histories, expert historians, and a measure of Glaswegian patter.

The programme showcases the central role of public baths and wash houses in communities, locating them within the wider picture of changes to working class life throughout the 20th century in Glasgow and Britain. Speaking to Lucy Janes and Niall Murphy in The City Archives, Denise Mina discovers why baths were built in the first place, and unpicks their many uses over the last 150 years.

The East Light

A poignant documentary, produced by The Big Light, for BBC Radio 4.

Margot McCuaig visits The East Light, a lighthouse on Rathlin which holds memories of generations of her own family, and other island families there.

As she climbs up, we hear the voices embedded in this place. It is both deeply personal, exploring family, and the love between a daughter and father, and also explores community spirit and heritage, told via one island community. Just as the sea batters the shore, our times are taking a toll on island communities, but this is a hopeful tale of resilience, adaptability and local strength in the face of it all.

The Accidental 80s Anthem

As part of Radio 2 Loves The 80s, Jo Whiley tells the story of the breakout song from the cult American ‘brat pack’ movie The Breakfast Club.

Back in 1985, Don’t You Forget About Me became one of the most iconic 80s anthems ever! Recorded for the film by the Scottish rock band Simple Minds, the song reached No 1 in the US Billboard Hot 100 and several other countries, catapulting the group to international stardom.

Despite not writing the track and, at first, being reluctant to cover it (it was apparently turned down by Bryan Ferry and Billy Idol), the band eventually relented and recorded it. Now, 40 years on, as it surpasses 1 billion streams on Spotify, we hear from frontman Jim Kerr and guitarist Charlie Burchill about how they went from refusing to record the song to embracing it - even adding the distinctive ‘La la la la’ lines that audiences in packed stadia across the globe still chant today.

Song Of The Deer

The brainchild of producer Uilleam MacCormaig, Song of the Deer reimagines the monumental 18th Century Gaelic poem, Moladh Beinn Dobhrain - In Praise of Beinn Dorain - a celebrated Munro in the Scottish Highlands.

We join Niall Rowantree, a modern-day forester and deer stalker, as he hunts his prey and uncovers the secrets of this revered animal. Kathleen MacInnes voices the perspective of a hind as she moves through the landscape.

The original poem was created by Duncan Ban MacIntyre and it was translated in 2021 by Gary MacKenzie.

This documentary explores the relationship between highlanders, their landscape, and the ecology around them. It was produced in Scotland by Uilleam and Flora Zajicek, in partnership with the BBC and Multitrack.
